If you have just 4 days in Istanbul there is a lot you can see and do in the city also known historically as Byzantium and Constantinople.
Don’t miss the famous Istanbul Spice Bazaar where the vendors will expertly package your purchases for safe transportation home on the plane.
Then there’s the Grand Bazaar, a huge indoor market with everything from football shirts to jewellery to scarves and rugs.
The Basilica Cisterns are hidden underground and something you might have seen in films from James Bond to Tom Hanks in Inferno.
The majestic Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are the heavyweights of Istanbul’s tourist attractions.
If you’re lucky, you might see the Bosphorus turn a rich blue.
Climb the Galata Tower for a birds’ eye view of the city.
Take a boat tour, wander the ancient streets and sit our in the park to enjoy the social atmosphere that descends on the city in the evenings.
My personal favourite is street photography.
